Since 1974, the company's operations have been focused 100% towards the nuclear industry and are supported by a highly skilled team of engineers and manufacturing professionals.
Services include the design, manufacture, and integration of remote handling tools and tele-robotic systems as well as the design and supply of a wide variety of custom process systems and components. Being a full service system provider with a complete range of expertise in all facets of design, engineering, manufacturing, inspection and testing allows the company to deliver complex nuclear applications.
Products supplied include NQA-1 qualified storage and transportation vessels, tritium handling equipment, nuclear-class process equipment and nuclear decontamination systems. The company also designs and supplies special-purpose manipulators and multi-axis automatic control systems for use in reactor vault and high level waste environments.
As one of a limited number of companies in North America that have an ASME N-Stamp certification, our commitment to delivering on the nuclear industries quality requirements is unsurpassed.By providing the highest quality and reliability in all products, over 1500 contracts for Canadian and International clients have been completed over the last 30 years.
Numet’s parent company is ODIM ASA, a publicly listed Norwegian corporation. ODIM develops and sells advanced automated handling solutions for the offshore oil & gas, naval and nuclear industries. www.odim.com
HistorySince inception in the 1970’s, ODIM Numet has been an engineering and fabrication company dedicated to the nuclear industry. Early projects concentrated on the supply of custom engineered process components, supported by accreditation for the design and fabrication of nuclear pressure vessels and components in accordance with the ASME Code. We specialize in customized “engineered” components, which not only are nuclear pressure boundary items, but also require advanced engineering process solutions.
Relationships that have been developed with nuclear utilities have created the opportunities to develop other types of equipment such as specialized tooling for various reactor inspection and maintenance activities. Electrical capabilities have been expanded within the engineering department to complement our mechanical expertise. Company StrengthsWe are one of few companies of our type dedicated, for decades, exclusively to the nuclear industry. We have significant experience with the design and supply of custom remote handling equipment, but are also leaders in the engineering and supply of nuclear pressure boundary equipment. The structure of the entire company, and it's day to day operations, are based on our nuclear QA programs. Our engineering staff work hand in hand with experienced production personnel to optimize the manufacturability of our design, and minimize production risks. We build what we design. We have technical expertise in all of the key areas critical the success of complex nuclear projects.
We have a history of more than a thousand successful projects in the industry. Typical ProjectsWaste Handling and process equipment supplied to the nuclear power and nuclear waste clean-up industries includes skid mounted Ion Exchange Decontamination Systems and Active Sludge Separation Systems, custom-designed Cooling Systems for use in high level waste vitrification processes, tritium handling and storage equipment, pyrochemical & salt distillation furnaces, shielded flask transfer systems, used fuel storage container lid clamps, storage and transportation vessels, and various types of filters and strainers.
Custom process components include ASME Section III Drain Traps, Flow Elements, Flame Arrestors, Heat Exchangers, Pressure Reducing Coils, Sight Flow Indicators and Y-Strainers.The supply of OEM ASME type equipment includes fittings, pumps, valves, tube clamps, pipe supports and seismic restraints. Market SectorsWe apply our nuclear expertise to many nuclear related applications. We supply specialty equipment and transportation containers to the Nuclear Medicine Industry. For Nuclear Power Plants we provide engineering and products for new construction, as well as to support the operation, inspection and maintenance of these facilities throughout their operating lives. For end of life of all nuclear facilities we supply custom engineered handling, transportation and storage systems and equipment
FacilityCompany facilities are a modern 40,000 ft.2 facility with 14,000 ft.2 of offices and 26,000 ft.2 of manufacturing plant located on a 3.3 acre lot. The office is split into separate administration and engineering / design areas. The office adjoins the indoor manufacturing facility with more work area available external to the building as required. The manufacturing area is divided into two bays. One bay (12,000 ft.2) , is used for large fabrications and assembly of large systems and is serviced by a 15 ton overhead crane. The under hook height of the crane is approximately 28 ft.. Skid mounted process systems weighing up to 50 tons, as well as multi-ton electro-mechanical manipulators are assembled and tested in this bay. The second bay (14,000 ft.2 ), is split into two main areas, a machine shop area comprised of a stores and parts staging area, shipping receiving, inspection and NDE areas, CNC and conventional machining centers, and a fabrication area where structural welding, fabrication and assembly operations occur. This area is serviced by a 6 ton overhead crane with an under the hook height of approximately 15 ft. |
